Diamond Foam Practice Baseballs is rated 4.7 out of 5 by 9.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent for hitting drills The team uses these balls for multiple hitting drills. We set up a station in the outfield and hit for distance and we use them for soft toss and tee work. They are much more effective than wiffle balls, and work well in cases where hitting real baseballs isn't acceptable. I'm always being asked where I got them by other coaches because of their practical use. They are a bit pricey for a dozen in my opinion, but we get use out of them so I don't mind.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great for little kids and fly very true I own these as well as the ATEC SFT balls. These Diamonds are extremely light and perhaps 1/2 the weight of the ATECs. Despite the light weight these fly staighter than the ATECs IF the wind isn't blowing. You would not want to buy these if you have a windy practice area however. The ATECs won't be perfect in the wind (8 MPH+) either but they will perform better than these. Both balls are 1000 times better than real baseballs if you are teaching kids 9 and under how to hit. Real baseballs just plain hurt for these smaller kids whereas with these the kids can hit "all day" without pain. Furthermore, hitting these lighter balls will help your kids learn to finish their swings and develop great technique and NOT fear contact. These balls have the added benefit of being so soft that the kids don't have to wear batting helmets. If you are looking for something to give your kids a high number of reps to help them get more comfortable and confident in the batter's box these balls are exactly what you need. I've used these balls in the ATEC Power Streak and the Wilson Hitting Streak machines and they worked great in both machines. BTW, the ATEC Power Streak (green) is better than the Wilson Hitting Streak (black). The Wilson's feet & legs are not stable enough to get the consistent pitch location required for young kids. Everyone has slightly different product requirements but when I buy additional balls I'll purchase these instead of the ATECs. The main reasons I prefer these is because they fly straighter and there is less variation from 1 ball to the next. Younger kids need well located pitches to build confidence and consistency and these are probably 25% more consistent. Also, if the ATECs get dirty I've been unable to get them clean. The ATEC surface seems to absorb dirt and mud. These Diamonds can fly into a muddy ditch and you can wipe them off and they'll be just fine (once they dry -- never put a wet or slick ball into a pitching machine). I do prefer the ATEC balls for scrimmages and anything outside of the batting cage though. Sure they get dirty and after a year or two they'll look terrible but so would a real baseball and all of these balls cost a lot less than real baseballs. I also prefer the ATEC balls outside of the cage because they are heavier and when the boys throw them there is enough mass there so that they can throw them accurately. These diamond balls are too light for throwing.
